Doxycycline Drug Interactions ;

[center]If doxycycline is taken with products containing aluminum, calcium,
magnesium, or iron, your body may not absorb doxycycline adequately. To
avoid this interaction, it is a good idea to take doxycycline at least
two hours before or six hours after any products with aluminum, calcium,
magnesium, or iron.

Barbiturate medications may decrease the level of doxycycline in the blood, perhaps making it less effective.

Bile acid sequestrants may bind to doxycycline in the digestive tract,
preventing it from being properly absorbed. This may make doxycycline
less effective. Separate your doses of doxycycline and a bile acid
sequestrant by as much time as possible (at least two hours or more).

Idea

Bismuth subsalicylate may decrease the absorption of doxycycline. It is
best to take doxycycline at least two hours before or six hours after
taking bismuth subsalicylate.

Ranolazine
Doxycycline
may increase the level of ranolazine in the blood, perhaps increasing
the risk of side effects of ranolazine. Check with your healthcare
provider before taking these medications together.

Retinoids
Combining doxycycline with some retinoid medications may increase the risk of a dangerous condition known as intracranial hypertension.
In many cases, such combinations are not recommended. Be sure to check
with your healthcare provider before combining such medications, making
specific mention of this interaction.

Warfarin
Combining doxycycline and warfarin may increase the risk of bleeding. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your INR and prothrombin time more frequently and adjust your warfarin dosage if necessary.

Carbamazepine
Carbamazepine may decrease the level of doxycycline
in the blood, perhaps making it less effective. Check with your
healthcare provider before taking doxycycline with carbamazepine.

Eplerenone
Doxycycline may increase the level of eplerenone in the blood,
perhaps increasing the risk of side effects of eplerenone. Check with
your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Fentanyl
Doxycycline may increase the level of fentanyl
in the blood, perhaps increasing the risk of fentanyl side effects.
Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications
together.

Maraviroc
Doxycycline may increase the level of maraviroc in the blood, perhaps increasing the risk of side effects of maraviroc. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Oral Typhoid Vaccine
Doxycycline may decrease the effectiveness of the oral typhoid vaccine. If you have taken doxycycline recently or are currently taking doxycycline, your oral typhoid vaccine may need to be postponed for at least a day after finishing doxycycline.

Penicillins
Doxycycline may make penicillin antibiotics less effective. Check
with your healthcare provider before combining doxycycline with a
penicillin medication.

Phenytoin
Phenytoin
may decrease the level of doxycycline in the blood, perhaps making it
less effective. Check with your healthcare provider before taking
doxycycline with phenytoin.

Quinapril
Quinapril
may decrease the absorption of doxycycline, perhaps making it less
effective. Separate your doses of doxycycline and quinapril by as much
time as possible (at least two hours).
